Somafco Dialogues

The SOMAFCO dialogues are aimed at facilitating conversation for, about and with its key stakeholders and targeted beneficiaries; the youth.

Another Talk Shop ? Why?

  • SOMAFCO Trust believes that dialogues themselves are educational as they expose participants to different perspectives and view.
  • Serve as a reality check.
  • History has proven that education in classrooms does not always transmit the universal values of humanity. South Africa peculiar history is testament this.
  • Dialogues provide an opportunity for broader interaction with issues that directly and indirectly affect education and youth
  • Dialogues provide the critical opportunity to listen and to be heard.
  • South Africa’s democratic breakthrough proves that dialogue is a weapon for peaceful transformation and that we can promote South Africa’s prosperity through continued and robust dialogue dialogue.

The SOMAFCO Trust strongly believes that education is the surest way to eradicate intergenerational poverty and to secure long-term and sustained social cohesion. Education is also the single most important developmental tool for a nation and particular for the Youth.

As such much of the dialogues focus on Education but these dialogues are not restricted to this constituency or topic. SOMAFCO Trust will host other dialogues with other stakeholders on other issues from social cohesion, racism and the economy.

The SOMAFCO Trust will also host dialogues drawing on the history and heritage of Somafco in order to leverage that positive history to promote a culture of initiative and collaboration in South Africa and Africa.

The SOMAFCO Trust’s inaugural dialogue took place at the University of Pretoria Mamelodi Campus.
